You have to also consider that a deck being horizontal and having standing water on it, you are going to treat your deck at least once a year if you want to do it right. Another thing you might want to consider is a solid color stain, the ones made by Cabots and some of the big paint companies they make some that are pretty good. A solid color deck stain, and to call it stain is wrong, it is actually paint, you may get two to three years of life, then you will need to paint again. The best bet for you is to contact Cabot Stains, get a customer technician on the phone,tell him what you want to do and then listen to what he has to say.
